Starward Bound
Founded in 1981, STARWARD BOUND was organized for the enjoyment of all forms of Science Fiction and fantasy. Although based in Dayton, this not-for-profit organization has members from across the Miami Valley, and beyond. Club activities include special interest groups (SIGs), a monthly business meeting, monthly social gatherings and going to conventions. Individual membership is $10 a year and $2 for each additional member living at the same address. The USS Bismarck is a family oriented, community service, Science Fiction fan club with a Star Trek emphasis. A member of Starfleet Command, one of the most active groups in the area, they are dedicated to providing quality SF information, along with fun and exciting activities ranging from get-togethers, trips, convention going and much more. They have donated thousands of dollars to places such as Middletown Community Pantry and Children’s Emergency Medical Facilities. The group welcomes everyone. The U.S.S. Aquila meets the second Saturday of each month at 4 P.M. at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on Mall Road in Florence, KY. Meeting since November of 1990, meetings are not just discussions of Star Trek and science fiction but also cover topics relating to history, politics, literature and their members' interests. The U.S.S. Aquila has performed Christmas shows for patients at nursing homes, helped out with environmental projects, and donated materials and financial resources to Welcome House and other charities. ILV Midnight Warrior
Imperial Legionnaire Vessels of Imperial Xeno-Legion, the foreign legion for the Klingons. The chapter based in Hamilton, Ohio and meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 3pm. Meetings alternate between the crewmembers houses. The ILV Midnight Warrior is ship that has a diversity of many different alien races that fight for the Klingon Empire, promoting imagination and creativity in the creating of different alien races that has been seen through the various forms of visual media. Representatives of the Klingon Empire based in the metropolitan Cincinnati area. The group meets the first Saturday of each month at a member’s house. Cincinnati's Doctor Who fan club welcomes Whovians, Trekkers, and other sci-fi and fantasy fans. Meetings are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month (unless otherwise scheduled). A Starfleet Command, Star Trek fan club based in Cincinnati, Ohio celebrating over 16 years of community and fannish service. Meetings are held the second Saturday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of Provident Bank located in the Hyde Park Shopping Plaza on Paxton Road in Cincinnati. The group sponsors many charity events benefiting Children’s Hospital, homeless shelters, Toys for Tots, Operation Christmas Child, Save the Animals Foundation and adopts a family at Christmas, among others. Golden Duck Foundation For Excellence In Children’s Science Fiction
The Golden Duck Awards are given each year in the categories of Picture Book, Middle Grades and Young Adult categories. Special Awards are given when appropriate. Nominations of titles for consideration are welcome. The foundation is based Illinois and is one of the most active in promoting quality science fiction for young readers.
