Scheduled Activities

Guest of Honor

Diann Thornley

Diann has been a featured attending author and a popular MILLENNICON® programming participant for several years. Her first book, Ganwold's Child, was a featured selection in the Science Fiction Book Club and, according to the reviews, a fine debut to what we know will be a long and successful career. The second book of the saga, Echoes of Issel, is now in bookstores. A third book is due out in 1997. MILLENNICON® has had the honor of being several author's first GOH experience. We've proven to be a sort of lucky charm for them and we predict the happy tradition will continue for Diann. Come join the fun and help us launch a GOH for fandom.

Room Party Info

The convention activities will take place in the function space opening onto the large garden atrium and in the atrium itself. There are 20 first floor hotel rooms located in the atrium. We have requested these rooms be included in our room block. Ten are connecting rooms suitable for room parties. If you are planning a room party, and would like to be in the atrium area, please reserve your rooms early to make sure you are accommodated. The hotel charges a corking fee for alcoholic beverages served on the premises. This fee should be handled directly with the hotel. The hotel does not permit the posting of signs. We will arrange for ample sign boards and easels for party and activity posting.

MASQUERADE

It's never too early to start planning your costume and we have just the incentive you need! MILLENNICON® will once again offer the Mask award to the Best-of-Show winner of the formal masquerade. Each year a custom one-of-a-kind ceramic mask is designed especially for MILLENNICON® by a talented regional artist. The mask is mounted on an engraved wooden plaque for prominent display among your trophies. Awards will also be given for the best costumes in several categories.

The formal masquerade occurs Saturday evening. On-stage presentations are limited to two minutes per entry. A photo staging area will be available following the event. Registration forms and rules are available by mail and during the convention, at the registration desk. Our secret judges will be roaming the convention looking for the best hall costumes and awarding prizes throughout the convention. Winners can participate in the Parade of Hall Costumes at the masquerade.

Banquet

We will host a Saturday night Banquet Buffet. The price includes the meal, tax and gratuity. The GOH speech and awards will follow the festivities.

The menu will include: Complete salad bar, vegetable, pasta, two entrees, potatoes, fresh fruit, rolls and butter, beverages and assorted desserts. Come join us for dinner and stay for the festivities.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children, ten and under.
